Each piece is lovingly crafted in my garden workshop. To help your jewellery stay beautiful for years to come, here’s how to care for the different components — and a few thoughts on how your piece might evolve with you.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver naturally develops a patina over time — it’s part of its character.

  • Use a soft silver polishing cloth to restore shine when needed
  • Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, and household cleaners
  • Store in a dry place, ideally in a pouch or box to reduce tarnish

Copper - A Living Metal

Copper doesn’t just age, it evolves. Over time, it develops a patina that’s unique to you, shaped by your skin’s natural chemistry, the air around you, and the way you wear it.

  • Some pieces deepen in colour, others take on a soft green hue, but don't worry it’s all part of the story
  • This transformation is personal, like a quiet collaboration between you and the metal
  • You’re not just wearing copper, you’re bonding with it

If you prefer to keep the original finish, a gentle clean with lemon juice or vinegar and a soft cloth will refresh it. But many wearers choose to let the patina grow - creating a mark of time, touch, and individuality.

Gilding Metal

Gilding metal is a copper-rich alloy with a soft golden glow - warmer than brass, gentler than bright copper. It’s made from around 95% copper and 5% zinc, giving it a mellow tone that deepens with wear. Each piece is shaped and finished by hand, so the surface may show subtle marks of making - part of its story, not a flaw.

Like copper, it is a material that responds to you. Over time, it may darken or develop a soft patina, depending on your skin, your climate, and how often it’s worn. That evolving surface is part of its charm and no two pieces age quite the same.

Caring for Your Gilding Metal Jewellery

  • Patina is personal, the metal may deepen in colour or take on a greenish tint. This is natural and safe to wear.
  • To brighten it up, gently rub with a soft cloth. If needed, a dab of lemon juice or vinegar can lift the tone, rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cloths, which can scratch or strip the surface.
  • Store in a dry place, ideally in a pouch or box, to slow down oxidation when not in use.

Sea Glass

Sea glass is naturally frosted and doesn’t need polishing. Sea-tumbled by nature, sea glass is beautifully uneven. If you notice a little movement in its setting, don’t worry — it’s not a fault, and it’s not going anywhere. Just one of the quiet quirks of wearing sea glass.

  • Each piece of sea glass is finished with a light coat of Jewellers Renaissance Wax to enhance its natural beauty and add a soft sheen. Over time, as the wax wears away, your skin’s natural oils will help maintain a mellow glow - making the piece feel even more yours
  • Clean gently with mild soap and water if needed
  • Avoid knocks or drops, it is durable but can chip on hard surfaces
  • Each piece is unique, shaped by the sea and selected for its beauty

General Tips

  • Remove jewellery before swimming, showering, or sleeping
  • Avoid abrasive cloths or harsh chemicals
  • Treat mixed-material pieces gently to preserve their finish
  • Small changes in colour or texture over time are natural — they reflect the life of the piece

A Note on Uniqueness

Your jewellery is designed to be worn, touched, and lived with. The materials, especially copper and sea glass, respond to you in subtle ways. Over time, they will carry traces of your story: the places you’ve been, the way you move, the moments you’ve shared.

It’s not just a piece of jewellery. It’s a quiet companion.
